So. It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these “tag” things, so please bear with me if I’m a little rusty…
I was tagged by the lovely Deanna @ A Novel Glimpse to do the Desert Island Book Tag. Thank you so much, Deanna! I know I say this about a lot of blogs, but seriously, do check this one out. You’ll be doing yourself a favor. 😉
Water: A book you can simply not live without.
This is definitely a tough question for me because I have so many favorite books. But being given the phrase “a book you can simply not live without,” the first book that pops into my mind is The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. Perks is a very heavy and moving read, but it’s also funny, inspiring, and even uplifting at times. A definite must-read. Even thinking about it now makes me want to go and give it another reread. XD
Food: A book that is a close second on your favorites list.
The thing is, I don’t really have an “all-time favorite.” I have a very, very, very long list of favorites, and I have a current favorite. I’ve tried narrowing this list down to 2 or 3, and trust me when I say that it didn’t end well.
Anyway, I guess Tiger Lily is what you would consider my current favorite. I read it about 4 months ago, but I still get the chills whenever I think about it.
It’s also my most recent 5-star read, in case you were wondering. I haven’t had any 5-star books in 2016 and it’s making me really sad. 😦
Shelter: A book that makes you feel at home and safe.
This one wins without a doubt. No matter what kind of situation I may be in, Anna and the French Kiss always manages to put a smile on my face. No matter how many times I reread it. 🙂
Flare Gun: A book you would recommend to a person who doesn’t read.
Anything by Sarah Dessen would fit this category, honestly. Her contemporaries are so sweet and adorable on the outside, but they actually have a lot of deeper meanings and messages on the inside. They’re also incredibly realistic and well-written and are perfect for a YA newbie.
Matchsticks: A book that warms your heart.
Jessi Kirby is an author that I think deserves a lot more recognition. I’ve only read this one book by her, but it honestly blew me away. The synopsis might make it sound like it’s all about grief and death and whatnot, and while there definitely is some of that stuff in it, what really captured me was the fun stuff. I absolutely adore road trip books, and it had an absolutely adorable romance as well.
Compass: A book that directed you towards your love of reading.
Funny story: before I ever encountered the genius by the name of J.K. Rowling, I despised reading.
Yes, you read that right. I despised reading.
But don’t worry, guys. That obviously isn’t the case now. 😉

Hey Paige! Thanks for the tag, but I already did it: https://aubreysbooknook.wordpress.com/2016/02/27/tag-deserted-island/. I love your choices, and really need to read some of them. Tiger Lily looks absolutely amazing, and I have sadly never read any Sarah Dessen even though I have heard so many great things.
